An Illinois garden filled with masses of natives
Welcome to Genny Hood ’s Illinois garden !
I live southeast of Mechanicsburg , Illinois , on a farm with my married man , Bill . I ’ve been flower gardening for many years . In the outpouring , my garden is filled with one C of tulip , Narcissus pseudonarcissus , hyacinths , alliums , and others . In the summer , it is packed with a variety of different perennials , hanging baskets , annuals , summer bulbs , etc . I ’m out put to work in the yard every daytime . It ’s a true dear and passion of mine . My garden is not really themed ; it ’s more like a rambling cottage garden . I have a annual garden luncheon with coworkers . I ’m not a master gardener or professional by any mean ; I just enjoy spend time in my garden . Just thought I ’d share my picture with you . I hope you enjoy them .
receive to the garden ! This arch beautifully mark the entry to a magical , flower - filled cosmos . In the background , other pieces of garden artistic production and computer architecture are in the same bright lily-white , tying them and the whole garden together .

Genny ’s garden is a prime example of the frequently - take over but so - difficult - to - follow bit of horticulture advice : flora in drifts , not just 1 and twos ! Here , immense sweeps of purple coneflower ( Echinacea purpurea , Zones 3–9 ) are breathtaking in their out-and-out profusion . I count the pollinators love them too !
More purple coneflowers , mingle with garden fine art and old maid flower ( Zinnia elegans , annual )
Placing this weed of regal scaevola ( Scaevola aemula , Zone 11 or as one-year ) up on a stand in the middle of the perennial turns it into a dramatic and eye - capture centerpiece .

A white fount beleaguer by a tidy hedge gives a sensation of rules of order and optic calm amid the abundantly flowering perennials and yearly .
Another volume of imperial coneflowers look magical . I love the mutant in form and coloration , ranging from vivid Battle of Magenta to almost clean . Purple coneflowers often seed around when happy , and each seedling can be a little dissimilar .
A collection of bright annuals fill up the summertime with color .

In shade , the garden relies more on foliage than flowers , but it is no less beautiful .
No space goes unplanted ! This narrow-minded bottom along the home is fulfil with hostas and gravel height and pursuit from ferns in hang baskets .
