pelting ! We had a morsel of rain during the hebdomad ! Not a huge amount . A couple of hours of organize rain , enough to wet the control surface of the stain . Really we need several days of that , but I ’ll take it .

There will be no gardening this weekend , I shall be glamping in Devon with the current Mrs Jones . While we ’re toast marshmallows on an open fire and other such mirthful joke , you may all do Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . You know the drill .

Here are mine for this calendar week …

1 – What ’s the narration , Morning Glory ? I did n’t sow any of these this year , so this ’ll be from a seed dropped last year , or even the year before . I always half bear to find a small light incandescent lamp down by the stamen , so consummate is the direct contrast with the colouring of the outer petals .

2 – Teasel . My rogue teasle plants have finished flowering , and are now gear up to unfold zillions of seeds , ensuring a teasle woods next year . I plan to lather off their head before they can do that .

3 – Canna . Despite the deficiency of pelting over the summer ( they are notoriously thirsty plant ) , my canna have returned once again , mainly untroubled by slugs . I just provide them in the earth , they seem to contend ok over winter . It ’s a shame the leaves are n’t more interesting , they ’re a rather sheer unripened , but must n’t gnarl .

4 – Rose ‘ Harlow Carr ’ . Or at least I think it is . Could possibly be ‘ Gabriel Oak ’ , although I consider that is a darker , deep shade of garden pink . This is one of three shrub roses purchased in the spring that I ’ve ( finally ) planted in box on the patio , intending to train them like mini climbers up the short stretch of trellis behind them .

5 – Nadina domestica . prime now , Berry later .

6 – Sedum not - Autumn - Joy . I anticipate if I look hard enough there ’s a plant recording label nearby that would tell me exactly what this is . I am sure it ’s not Autumn Joy .
