Scenes from a 20-year-old garden
My name is Mary Harkacz , and my garden is located in northeastern Ohio . I ’ve been gardening for over 30 year , but I ’ve work out on this one for over 20 ! It really is one of my groovy passions .
The patio is our favorite backyard couch spot . I have sex test something new here every twelvemonth . In the hang handbasket are pink bougainvillea(Bougainvilleasp . Zones 9–11 or as an annual ) with variegated leaves . Their thorns may have pricked me more times than I care to admit , but I still retrieve they ’re beautiful !
Here ’s a persuasion of the terrace taken a little further away that shows a turn more of the garden . I do it usingEnglish ivy(Hedera spiral , Zones 5–9 ) as a background cover . There are morepink petunias(Petuniahybrid , annual ) here , with a yellow begonia(Begoniahybrid , yearly ) almost out of the systema skeletale .

When we build our fence around the yard , we really want to include a gate , since we were lucky to have wondrous neighbors . In the pots we have pink geraniums(Pelargoniumhybrid , Zones 8–10 or as an one-year ) and more English English ivy . We have some wisteria(Wisteriasinensis , Zones 5–10 ) vines — and they are think incursive , but I really enjoy the look they give . The braggart green foliage on the left field of the gate are hosta(Hosta cross , Zones 3–9 ) plants . There are some branches of evergreen plant , but I ’m not certain what kind .
This view of the logic gate orbit showcases the angle just before you reach it .
This is what you see from the logic gate expanse look the other direction toward the mansion .

Here ’s a view of our garden at the front of the house . While this field is about a half - Akka from the route , I still bonk building up a garden here for a slight supererogatory privateness and beauty . There are ferns on either side of the terrace . On the right are two varieties ofboxwood(Buxusspp . , Zones 5–9 ) . On the far left and obliterate on the right is moreEnglish ivy . In the foreground mickle , I’veplanted basil , among other plant .
A view of the opposite instruction of the front garden — it ’s our preferred place for a morning deep brown .
I love the thought of looking at my gardens at nighttime and seeing them lit . In the front of our menage , we have a billet with pink begonia and coleus in front of an arborvitae , among others .

Here ’s a shot of our driveway lined with arborvitaes(Thuja occidentalis , Zones 3–8 ) .
And last but not least , we have a little basin insert aside that on a regular basis has some adorable visitors .
