So , that means it ’s time to get a jump on holiday ornament — at least for those who do n’t wait until the last hour ( I ’m raising my helping hand ) . One that even a non - craft somebody like me can care is the dried seed pods from butterfly vine ( Mascagnia macroptera),Daphne ’s Pick of the Week .
She explain how to growthis drouth - tough perennial for brilliant yellow flower that blossom all summer to feed in beneficial insects . When the green pods dry to brown , you ’re quick to go .

Now , here ’s something sincerely tremendous with them and poppy semen pods . The artificer behind these creations just hit a landmark eld : 10 years honest-to-goodness !
Thanks toNina Mattsand her friendTylarfor sharing , and to momMaria Mattsfor sending along to inspire your fiddling artists !
I bet many of you have seen this , due to the healthy population of black - margined pecan aphids , crepe Vinca minor aphids and whitefly . Even other trees in my garden got hit this year . Thanks to Felicia Kongablefor this picture of her blotchy pecan tree diagram leaves affect by aphid . Daphne explain what is going on , why sooty mold then break , and what to do about it .

My lamb ’s ears and other plants digest from sooty mold , the “ by-product ” of dirt ball honeydew secretions “ rain down ” on them from the overhead French pancake Vinca minor . They ’ve all recovered just okay .
My listing of fall projects is longer than my arm , but here ’s the website of one back - to - business organization follow presently .
I ’m dig out the primrose jasmine and perverse passion vine ( there ’s tons more , so the butterfly are safe ) to establish a novel declination veggie garden with 2 levels of 6×6 dry stack stone . It ’ll be around 3 x 10 ; I ’ll leave room between it and the turk ’s cap .
