Bandit , my roomie ’s Corgi , examine his herding instinct this week .

Having one Corgi in the house is a attack , so make two should be double the fun , right ? Well , ordinarily it is . But Jellybean Bandit , my roommate ’s Pembroke , seems to always be in bother .

article-post

brigand loves people . When you pet him , he pose so worked up that he emits high - pitch yelps of joy the entire sentence your hands are on him . But he has issues with other dogs . He ’s get into a brace of scrap with Nigel in the house , and is now only reserve to be with Nigel when they are outside . My other roommate’sRat Terrier , Olivia , ca n’t be around Bandit at all . Bandit wants to eat on her .

Bandit also gets into trouble on a regular basis for harassing the Gallus gallus . He ’s decided he does n’t want them on the back lawn , and when he ’s outside , he chases them whenever they go to the sess to scrounge for bugs .

brigand has also cypher out a means to get out of the backyard . My next - door neighbor has found him ramble around his curtilage three time now . We ca n’t figure out how he ’s doing it .

So as sweet as Bandit is , he can be high - maintenance . His mom Michelle sleep together him , but all this stuff beat back her crazy . His smarts , energy and strikingness are often his hurt .

But the other Clarence Shepard Day Jr. , I got a glimpse of what I conceive is a muscular and awe-inspiring herding instinct in this little dog — and the reason behind his intense personality .

It bechance last week . I had ledMilagrointo his cubicle , and just as I skid the hangman’s halter off his head , Milagro whirled around and bolted out the doorway . He began canter around the back area , gleeful at his evasion .

“ Milagro ! ” I exclaim angrily . “ Get back in your stall ! ”

It was clean my recreant Spanish Mustang had no intention of listen to me , so I began to swing the lead forget me drug , hoping to aim him back into his stall . This sometimes works , but not today . This time , he ran around defiantly , refusing to go into the open logic gate .

And then Bandit showed up . Like a well - trained , experienced herd dog , Bandit became my wingman . He begin driving Milagro , staying close enough to push the horse , but far enough away to avoid a charge . When Milagro attempt to run past his open stall gate , Bandit swing astray and cut him off , pushing Milagro inside . I ran up and end the gate .

I was so proud of Bandit . I gush over him , and the smile on his little nerve was unmistakable . Not only did he get to show the world his hidden talents , he also gave me a brief sensation of what it ’s like to forge in bicycle-built-for-two with a crowd dog . It was pretty amazing .

Now when Bandit convey into trouble , I am much more apprehension . I know it ’s only because he needs a job . Had he been born 100 year ago in Wales , he ’d be doing exactly what he was spawn to do .
