Visiting the nation’s largest flower show
This is Kevin Kelly , and I thought I would divvy up some photos from my trip to thePhiladelphia Flower Showin mid - June . This show is the Carry Nation ’s largest , and the world ’s longest - running horticultural upshot , having begun in 1829 .
Over the years the show has been held indoors in other March , but the pandemic has force it to be outdoors the last two years . This yr , temperatures rose into the mid-90s , which caused its own set of challenges . The show plans to come back to its indoor stage setting and March dates for 2023 .
These largecontainersstood about 12 feet tall and flanked the large stone gazebo at FDR Park , where the show was hold .

These beautiful flowered spheres were hung from coloured arches along the entrance .
I thought this was a fascinating direction to display anentrance garden .
Hydrangeas(Hydrangea arborescens , Zones 3–9 ) are massed behind a logic gate .

This beautiful video display show the note value of water . Purple calibrachoa(Calibrachoahybrids , zone 9–11 or as annuals ) edge thewater characteristic , with masses of yellow coreopsis(Coreopsishybrid , Zones 4–9 ) in the bed behind .

In this entry in one of the competitive classes , the accent here is on a fencing metamorphose into colourful mosaics made with item that would usually end up in the trash , such as plastic container lids .

This old desk wo n’t hold up long term , as moisture will destroy the woodwind , but it makes a very cool display .
tick-weed and catmint(Nepeta× faassenii , Zones 3–8 ) make a swarm of downhearted and gold flowers through which rise the sheer stems and parting of tumid coneflower(Rudbeckiamaxima , Zones 4–9 ) .
