Over-the-top displays of light, water, color and plants welcome you to the “Gardens of Tomorrow”
Hi GPODers !
A few weeks ago I had the pleasance of conjoin the rest of theFine Gardeningcrew on their expedition to the 2025Philadelphia Flower Show . In its 196th year , the flower show is a spread for plant lovers of every kind . Whether you ’re there to see the striking floral displays or marvel in the many prized plant life specimens on display , hours fly by like they are minutes in the fussy showroom .
grow by the nonprofitPennsylvania Horticultural Society ( PHS ) , the show is a fundraiser to tolerate the society ’s delegacy to use horticulture to improve the wellness and well - being of the Greater Philadelphia region . Also one of the largest and oldest flower show in the world , it attracts over 200,000 Edgar Albert Guest each year and garner works master from across the Mid - Atlantic region ( and cosmos ) to exchange ideas , information , and knowledge . Fine Gardeningwas there to bear talk of the town as part of the show ’s “ Know to maturate ” educational lecture series . However , that did n’t stop me from slew out into the salesroom whenever I had free time to capture as much of the unbelievable creations and exhibits as I could .

The 2025 melodic theme , “ Gardens of Tomorrow , ” ask over onlooker to imagine how our gardens and plant life arrangements will evolve in the near hereafter , and the ledger entry display ( titledFutura Florentia ) straight off immerse you into this data-based world .
Garden entryways have been marked by some kind of archway for centuries , so it ’s fair that future gardens will go along this tradition . This entry exhibit imagined what a more futurist interpretation of these Hellenic structures might look like and put it on a grand scale . The mixture of materials and firing coloration used throughout these bed also lent to the futuristic feel .
While the structure used were sleek and ultramodern , all of the plantings were lush , comforting , and intimate . A mix of pinkish and purple bloom match the huge , burnished pink water features while a mix of foliage shapes create a realistic effect with tons of unbelievable texture .

Varying flora heights also gave this molding lots of dimension . spire of classical foxgloves and the bulb-shaped bloom of alliums counterpoint each other while complimenting many of the unique shape incur in the elaborate body of water features made up of dozens of Methedrine ornamentation .
The only affair miss from these gorgeous odes to spring were the heyday on the many cherry tree tree that were focal points of the design . Just like in our garden , plants do n’t care when you ’ve scheduled a fancy garden show and will issue forth into their efflorescence at their own time . Just a week or two off from full coloring material , the trees were covered in buds and the first unfurling flowers . While not the floral display they were think , it ’s reassure for the domicile gardener that not even the professionals get it correct 100 % of the time .
In no way lacking for blooms were the opulent system that were encountered as shortly as you passed through the entranceway ’s arch lights . level and layers of hot - dyed blossom created bold mounds that thrilled and spilled out containers that I believe were 3D publish ( very fitting for “ Gardens of Tomorrow ” ) .

Various orchids , tulips , roses , and allium are just some of the full-grown blooms used to make these incredible combination , which were so large that huge monstera leaves were an appropriate foliage match . I test my best to get photos that captured as much of the incredible details in this arrangements as possible , but that is no easy undertaking when century of other people are also vie for a expectant view of these plant .
All of these smart color again wed well with the bright pink water feature . The third of these structures merchandise the trash baubles found in the first two for cylinder that held gorgeous orchid flowers .
Just another angle of these incredible container and the lovely mixing of tulips and grasses that circumvent them . I do n’t think any picture could completely capture the sizing and magnitude of these over - the - top display , but experience if you discover these impressive they were that much more telling in genuine life .
