First the overhead shot , taken by a swarm of nanotech gnats . Not a lot of floral coloration get out now , but fall is working its magic on some of the leaf .

I am bit by bit separate out finished pots , removing them so they can be dealt with . I am bagging up the spent compost , believably to use as a soil conditioner in the front garden . I did grease one’s palms one seemly pot before Lockdown II . A great glaze pot , it is currently occupied by a hydrangea . Are garden centres overt still ? I am due to buy another .

The Patio Border . thing are beginning to look a small untidy . Since I took these photos I have been removing the worst offender , consigning them with due ceremonial occasion , tear up , to the compost heap . I think I will soon slew back the finished asters too , and maybe the loosestrife , although I like the way that looks better . My independent motivation is that I have bulbs to embed that I ’d care to get in the primer sooner rather than later . probably later …

The Sunny Border . The amalanchier leave look very red in these photos , quite a circumstances more than they are in real life . But you ’re not to know that , they look fabulous do n’t they ? ! There are lots of former autumn jobs I need to get on with in here , pruning , snub back , training , planting , weed . After a few weeks of rock-bottom gardening motivating , I feel the impulse upon me once more .

The Wisteria Border , incorporating the Eye of Sauron . I have some Dahlia pinnata floppage , but they are still flowering away . I need to do a better occupation of bear out them . Aside from that , ca n’t be defective for remainder of October .

The Lilac Border . In common with the other borders there is still quite a portion going on here . The persicaria seems particularly happy in what is a shady recession of the garden . That is all one plant . I may necessitate to divide it come spring , perhaps even move it back a small . I think it is obliterate a twosome of affair , ca n’t recall what precisely . Ferns , maybe .

The Hibiscus Border . The stachys is beginning to count ropy , a state it reach around this clock time every year . I terminate up cutting it right back and removing the mushy ex - foliage . As observed last calendar month , it may be getting to heavy for its boot , some division may be in order . I ’d like to get in here with some daffodil and maybe even some excess tulip but am fain to leave it be for now . If I ’m honest that ’s more out of electric light acedia than admiration of the current state .

The Side Passage . The rose in the nearer containers are doing highly well , putting on several feet of new growth this class . It needs training in properly , I ’ll do that once the clematis have been cut right back out of the mode . That piece of gutter has been on the floor there for years . Funny how you do n’t see thing after a while . I require to top up the container , the compost has sunk . I need to line them again which will be an interesting exercise .

The Front Garden . Clematis tangutica ‘ Bill Mackenzie ’ , in full escape last month , is now a mass of silky seed heads . Since taking this photo I have cut back all the helenium . I have way too much of it , I will be digging up and divide the thump . I will give away the spares , I have quite enough of the basic h. autumnale mixture . I ’d like to bulk up more on the h. ‘ sahin ’s former flowerer ’ , and h. ‘ moerheims ’s beauty ’ which both have good colouration . I will be separate my small clumps of those into the small possible plantlet and produce on again , a job for next March .
