Boing! Spring Already Sprung!
Giant Leopard moths are already hang out with us on the patio . Pretty soon we ’ll see their offspring : those black fuzzy wuzzy wooly bear caterpillars.90 ° temps and pillory sunlight last week for certain festinate things up . Already , Narcissus ‘ Marieke ’ bid us farewell until next springtime . I’m sell on these guys with their silvern foliage , since they ’ve returned dependably for three year . Fragrant mass laurels are fading fast after their around town bee powwow . Narcissus ‘ Erlicheer ’ hangs in there , always early to bloom and the last to leave . It ’s crowding Yucca pallida so perhaps , I ’ll get around to disunite and moving once the foliage brown . Usually , Leucojum aestivum , often called “ snowdrops , ” logs in first , but put behind bars behind this year . Mine are founder down with Texas sedge ( Carex texensis). Some are droop over the pavement to grab attention as I tally the front room access . Dutch flag arrived in time to unite the Leucojum party , so I lucked into an unusual — though welcome — pairing . Lady Banks rose put early energy into its topmost offset . Below , I see buds , already limp in unseasonal heat . Also , I did a lot of necessary late pruning , acknowledge that I ’d sacrifice flower this class . aboriginal golden groundsel ( Packera obovata ) is on agenda to present its composite calling visiting card to uncounted pollinators . Native spiderwort ( S. gigantea ) broadens the pollinator spectrum in hues of lavender and pinkish . Perfumed Buff Beauty rose dangles over my den window . All my works get along fine with my thrifty pee ways . This workweek , @TXPlantGuy Daniel Cunningham at Water University from theTexas A&M AgriLife Research Center – Dallastakes the waste material out of weewee with DIY summit . On tour in Georgetown , Williamson County Master Gardenersdemonstrate EarthKind techniques from food for thought to flowers . Thanks for stopping by ! See you next calendar week , Linda
