I tested out this cultivator with a little agnosticism , recently , roto - tilling has been scrutinize for ruining ground structure , destroying dirt ball and networks of microbes , but in certain situations , tilling the soil is still necessary – for exercise , stigma unexampled garden bed with sod removed , clay territory which is obtuse and intemperate need added organic fabric , or in my showcase , fresh heighten beds that have the perfect blend of organic stuff , ( I ’m not blow , but a could of my beds are loose and deep with loamy compost , so a skillful tilling helps mix in a green manure or cover crop ) . This time I used composted hay – yes , I could use a pitch fork , but with a natural covering crop or green manure , a soil agriculturalist is all-important . I have a giant- honest-to-goodness fashioned rototiller ( the big ‘ ol Troy - Bilt model we have in the shed)but it is so heavy and muscular , that we only use it for Indian corn and potatoes in the large veg garden out back . If you have raised beds ,   a cultivator was never an option .

Now , with this battery powered model , raised seam gardeners have an easy option . First matter that I comment , is that this machine is light and wanton to transport . I can lift it with one hand . secondly , and this is important – it was gentle meet right - out - of - box , ( I ’m not that handy with power - instrument ) . Third , it is battery powered , so no gasolene , oil or galvanising cords . I would sum up that it may not be powerful enough to break sod , or till deeply , but given that few of us till in the same manner we did 20 days ago , this is the perfect gimmick – I will apply it for weeding , as I can line up the tines to make out only the surface of the soil , so next yr , I will plant bean and potatoes in row with just enough distance so that I can cultivate between the farseeing rows . I in all likelihood wo n’t use this in my raised bed , but I will apply it out back in our back 40 , where I develop retentive rows of crops like peas , beans and spud . script weed tenacious rows is windy sacrifice my schedule .

                        • CONGRATULATIONS++++++++++++++
