Melissa Inman knew she could n’t keep her daughter ’s elbow room the same after she move away for college . Once her daughter gathered everything she desire to keep , the teenager ’s bedroom looked like " a hot mess , " Inman enounce . " I could n’t leave it the way it was because it made me sad , so I decided to revamp . "
With some help from her husband and a few estimate for DIY project , Inman aim to work redoing her girl ’s teenage bedroom with hopes of turn it into astylish guest room . The first task on the listing ? paint it a pretty shade of pink .
Choosing a Paint Color
Inspired by artwork from graphical designerJade Purple Brown , Inman decided to paint the way a bright refinement of pastel pink . Building a Feature Wall
TheDIY honeycomb wall(made from pieces of wood the Inmans cut and attached to the wall themselves ) was one lineament Inman wanted to keep in the way . When her girl lived in the way , the wall was painted in a collection of colors ranging from blue and green to yellow and purple . or else of removing the colorful honeycomb , Inman painted the paries a neutral albumen to equilibrate out the other pink wall .

To vamp the dresser , which was earlier outfitted in birdie - model wallpaper , Inman covered the front of the drawers with perch wrapping , painted it a creamy white , and change over out the drawer pulls . For the top , Inman state she wanted the look of marble without the spendy price tag , so she lead the dresser with a simulated marble top made from MDF board and self - adhesive paper .

Along with a new duvet , lamp , Caranx crysos rug , and curtains , Inman adorn the room with pieces she gathered over prison term . Artwork from her best-loved artists ( plus two drawings of her dogs ) hangs above the dresser , and books , plant life , and a vintage camera sit snugly inside the marquee letters above the bed . Inman said it ’s the little detail that make the new way finger like it ’s still a part of their domicile .
" It feels like ours … even with the peachy pink , " Inman says .
