What worked in the year past
Today we ’re see with Fran Cohen who garden in Rhode Island :
In the eye of mywinter gardeningroutine , pouring overseed catalogs , reviewing preferred gardening Bible and oldFine Gardeningmagazines , I saw the FG comment that GPOD submissions are slow in the winter . That inspire me to await back at the years ’ garden picture to see if there was anything deserving sharing . And that give me a new position on my 2023 gardening yr . rather of my linger preoccupancy with the damage done bydeerandrabbitsandbugs , I ’m pleased to recall highlights .
Most of my hellebore flowers(Helleborushybrids , Zone 4 – 8) are downward facing so floatation is a perfect way to enjoy them .

This beautiful flushed quince(Chaenomelesspeciosa , Zone 4 – 8) is n’t very full because it does n’t get as much sunshine as it should , but it ’s still one of my spring favorites . The buds are beautiful , the blossom are like tiny roses , and the colouring is so rich .
I have n’t had the best luck with this tree diagram peony(Paeoniahybrid , Zone 4 – 8) which has been move umteen time , but it seems felicitous here , backed by a doublefileviburnum(Viburnum plicatum , Zone 5 – 7 ) .
This is a shady spot between amagnoliaand astewartiawhere a robust but delicate maiden hair’s-breadth fern(Adiantumpedatum , Zone 3 – 8) enjoys the troupe of a geranium(Geranium× cantabrigiense , Zone 5 – 8) , forget - me - nots(Myosotissylvatica , Zone 3 – 8)and sweet woodruff(Galium odoratum , Zone 4 – 8) .

This arch has been the website of a few family hymeneals .
We took out an sure-enough in - wall atmosphere conditioner and alternatively of patching the hole added a window which gives us a very dainty garden view .
Here is another flowering viburnum ( blank out the name ) . I like the sorbaria(Sorbariasorbifolia , Zone 2 – 8) foliage but take it from me , it needs to be confined to apot .

This twelvemonth my sister and I gifted each other with arose . Here is my new beautiful David Austin ‘ Gabrielle oak tree ’ .
This nicotiana(looks likeNicotianasylvestris , Zone 10 – 11 or as one-year ) has an interesting history . It first appear 2 - 3 years ago as a weed in a big potted Meyer gamboge tree whichoverwintersin the house . Rather than disturb thelemon tree , I celebrate cut back the seedling . Finally in class three I repotted the lemon and put the well settle nicotiana in the land where it take aim off , getting marvelous than me . Now I have lots of seeds to propagate around the garden .
Theseed headsof gravid genus Allium softly sprayed with blanched paint make a goodwinter arrangement .
